Radius was an ultra-trendy establishment in the financial district, with an attractive bar and lots of wood panelling as well as clever lighting to draw the upwardly mobile. Michael Schlow’s cooking was somewhat inconsistent but could deliver e.g. a very fine diver’s scallop was sweet and had excellent texture, though the vegetables accompanying it were nothing special. There was a very good wine list, with many wines by the glass. Overall, it was pricey, as you seem to be paying for the rather precious service.

Couldn't disagree more with this review. I've eaten at Radius for years, have always found the food fantastic. The service has reminded me of the graciousness only the best restaurants can consistently muster. You know that you can't possibly be THE guest they most wanted to see that evening. But somehow they make you feel as if you are. None of that would matter if the food were not superlative however. I'd take the warmth of their dining room over the bone-jarring clangy noise of a Celeste Cooper dining room any day of the week!
